Tecfind proudly presents seminar report on Graph Mining

:: ABSTRACT ::

How does the Web look? How could we tell an abnormal social network from a normal one? These and similar questions are important in many fields where the data can intuitively be cast as a graph; examples range from computer networks to sociology to biology and many more. Indeed, any M: N relation in database terminology can be represented as a graph. A lot of these questions boil down to the following: “How can we generate synthetic but realistic graphs?” To answer this, we must first understand what patterns are common in real-world graphs and can thus be considered a mark of normality/realism. This seminar give an overview of the incredible variety of work that has been done on these problems. One of our main contributions is the integration of points of view from physics, mathematics, sociology, and computer science. Further, we briefly describe recent advances on some related and interesting graph problems.

Informally, a graph is set of nodes, pairs of which might be connected by edges. In a wide array of disciplines, data can be intuitively cast into this format. For example, computer networks consist of routers/computers (nodes) and the links (edges) between them. Social networks consist of individuals and their interconnections (which could be business relationships or kinship or trust, etc.) Protein interaction networks link proteins which must work together to perform some particular biological function. Ecological food webs link species with predator-prey relationships. In these and many other fields, graphs are seemingly ubiquitous.

ASRock, known for their niche filling boards, has released a series of boards based on AMD's AM2+ socket, but the M3A780GXH/128M we have here today is one of their first AM3 motherboards. Coupling AMD's 780G chipset with integrated ATI Radeon HD 3200 graphics and the SB710 southbridge, this $89.99 motherboard strives to cover lots of ground with its IGP configuration and three PCIe slots supporting CrossFireX.

As mentioned above, ASRock has a number of AM2+ motherboards and after looking over the M3A780GXH/128M specifications and layout it appears ASRock has culled all the positive attributes from their previous motherboards and combined them into a single platform. For a budget board expansion opportunities abound, and while it is obvious a few things were cut in sake of price point, the board is still a solid offering

Sony Ericsson ain't giving up the fight for cellphone dominance despite not being at the top of things, and their latest effort comes in the form of the T715 which ought to satisfy most average cellphone users

The Sony Ericsson T715 is a compact 3.5G slider phone. Despite the T715's old-style number (rather than a name), this is one of the latest generation of Sony Ericsson phones that comes with a microSD memory slot rather than the proprietary Sony slot of older handsets.

Measuring 92 x 48 x 15mm, the T715 is what Sony Ericsson call a "credit card sized" phone. Although it's more compact than / W705, the main drawback is the smallish 2.2" display where the W705 has a 2.4" display.
There's a large, easy-to-use keypad. Sony Ericsson also say that the Tofu.. sorry, T715 has large fonts that are easy to read as well.
On the back is a 3.2 megapixel camera with a photo light. The camera can also geo-tag photographs with their location, using the nearest mobile base station as a fix because it doesn't have GPS. The main camera can also be used for video calling, which isn't exactly useful for face-to-face communications.. but how many people actually do that anyway?

The T715 comes with the NetFront web browser, supports standard internet email plus Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync, it has a multimedia player and FM radio plus a YouTube viewer. Picture and video blogging is supported as standard, and the T715 comes with a set of personal information management applications.

This is a quad-band GSM phone with support for 2100 MHz UMTS in Europe and most other countries, there will also be a T715a variant with tri-band UMTS support for North America. The T715 supports high-speed HSPA uploads and downloads, although Sony Ericsson have not quoted any data transfer speeds for this.
Talktime on 3G is about 4 hours with about 14 days standby time. On GSM the T715 has 10 hours talktime and 16 days standby time.

Samsung Electronics has unveiled the world’s first memory modules that carry 32GB of DDR3 memory. The devices are aimed at servers and enable never before seen memory capacities.The 32 GB module offers four times the density at significantly reduced power levels compared to the 8 GB memory modules of today. The 32 GB uses 1.35 volts which will not only reduce power levels but also help to reduce the overall electronic footprint.

The 32 GB module is inspired by the Samsung’s 50 nanometre (nm) - class 4 GB DDR3. The 32 GB model uses 72 4 GB DDR3 chip and nine quad-die package (QDP) 16 GB DDR3’s for a collective 32 GB configuration.
The DDR3 DRAM market accounts for 29% of the total DRAM market in 2009 and the International Data Corporation (IDC) estimates this number to rise to 75% in 2011. Furthermore, according to the IDC, 2 GB or higher DDR3 DRAM will rise from 3% to 33% of the total DRAM market by 2011

Pricing of the 32GB RDIMM was not announced.

Teechfind proudly presents full seminar report of OpenSocial

:: ABSTRACT ::
===========

OpenSocial is a set of APIs for building social applications that run on the web. OpenSocial's goal is to make more apps available to more users, by providing a common API that can be used in many different contexts. Developers can create applications, using standard JavaScript and HTML, that run on social websites that have implemented the OpenSocial APIs. These websites, known as OpenSocial containers, allow developers to access their social information; in return they receive a large suite of applications for their users.

The OpenSocial APIs expose methods for accessing information about people, their friends, and their data, within the context of a container. This means that when running an application on Orkut, you'll be interacting with your Orkut friends, while running the same application on MySpace lets you interact with your MySpace friends.

Toshiba's newest additions to their line of external portable hard drives come in 500GB($150) and 320GB($120) capacities with an array of new color choices including green and blue. But the most facinating feature is that the hard drives comes with a an enhanced backup software.

Toshiba adds snazzy new colors to HDD line

(Credit: Toshiba)

The hard drive comes with backup solutions for both Mac and Windows OS. Windows users get the benefit of NTI's BackupNow EZ software for one-touch data backups and even grants the user the ability to create a boot disc or even boot directly off the drive itself. In addition, the software also offers personalized recommendations on the best way to protect and store sensitive data.

Mac users, on the other hand, get NTI's Shadow 4 file-based backup software and can schedule incremental backups in a "set it and forget it" environment. This new line of external HDDs also work with Apple's Time Machine right out of the box, giving these users a healthy amount of extra storage.

For those worried about data security on-the-go, Toshiba covers its bases with an extra password-protected, 256-bit encryption.

This is a common complaint. When we uses HTML to construct a table, we often finds that there are large white spaces above the table.

The normal way of formatting a HTML for a table that causes large spaces is shown below.

In order to type that HTML, we have to press the ENTER key many times, and this cause the Blogger software to add a line breaks tag for each time we press the ENTER key. That is why we are seeing a lot of white spaces above the table.

There are 2 ways for you to get around this. One is to sign into Dashboard, select the blog, click the SETTINGS > FORMATTING tabs, and near the bottom of the page we can see CONVERT LINE BREAKS. Set this to NO, but by doing so, it will affect previous posts andmay play havoc with the formatting of posts such as no paragraphs, etc.

The other way is to write the HTML code for the table in one single line, without pressing the ENTER key. Below is the HTML code for the table that will not creat white space before tablesI used for this test.

Try it !

HP Mini 5101 Specification

by Smith | 8:10 AM in , |

HP Just announced the Mini 5101, a new Netbook aimed at professionals. Because it will be moved around a lot, it comes with a tough aluminum casing around the display while the rest of the body is made of magnesium alloy. The paint used on the palm rest is soft however. It feels like an organic material.

HP is taking disk performance seriously and proposes a 7200rpm hard disk, with a free fall detector, or a 80/128GB SSD drive. One of the thing we're a little concerned about is changes to the Mini's keyboard -- one of our favorite features. The wide, flat, closely spaced keys have been tweaked to look and feel a little more like the keys on a MacBook or Sony Vaio laptop, with a good amount of space between them. We'll have to play around with the system a bit more to decide if we like the new layout better. One positive change -- the touchpad's mouse buttons have been moved to a more traditional spot below the touchpad, rather than on either side

:: ABSTRACT ::

OpenMosix is a Linux kernel extension for single-system image clustering. This kernel extension turns a network of ordinary computers into a supercomputer for Linux applications. Once you have installed openMosix, the nodes in the cluster start talking to one another and the cluster adapts itself to the workload. Processes originating from any one node, if that node is too busy compared to others, can migrate to any other node.

With openMosix' Auto Discovery, a new node can be added while the cluster is running and the cluster will automatically begin to use the new resources. There is no need to program applications specifically for openMosix. Since all openMosix extensions are inside the kernel, every Linux application automatically and transparently benefits from the distributed computing concept of openMosix. OpenMosix is a simple way to set up a cluster.

The current implementation of OpenMosix is designed to run on clusters of X86/Pentium

Asus VX5 Lamborghini with 1TB SSD

by Smith | 12:15 PM in , |

Asus has added a new high end laptop to their range,the Asus VX5 Lamborghini Laptop. The Asus VX5 Lamorghini Laptop will come with a 16 inch Full HD Display, a GeForce GT130m graphics card with 1GB of GDDR3 memory, that is pretty impressive for a laptop.

Other specifications include an Intel Core 2 Quad processor, 4GB of RAM, a Blu-ray optical drive and a backlit keyboard.

The most interesting part of the new Asus VX5 Lamborghini Laptop is the storage, it will come with a massive 1TB SSD (Solid State Drive), which is bound to make it fast, that is the same amount of storage as I have in my desktop PC

Unfortunately they’re also keeping quiet on pricing, perhaps because they know that many of us will have a small heart attack upon hearing the final sticker tag. One thing for sure is that this is going to be an expensive laptop.

A common trend at Lenovo is making thin and lightweight Thinkpads. Now Lenovo has done it again with the T400

ThinkPad T400s specifications:
• OS: Windows Vista Business (SP1)
• Screen: 1440 x 900 WXGA+ LED Backlit (Matte finish)
• Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo SP9600 (2.53GHz, 1066MHz FSB, 6MB Cache)
• Memory: 2GB DDR3 RAM (2GB x 1)
• Storage: 128GB Samsung SSD
• Optical Drive: DVD+/-RW
• Wireless: 802.11a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.0
• Graphics: Intel X4500M Integrated
• Built-in web camera
• Battery: 6-cell 11.1 44Wh
• Dimensions: (LxWxH) 13.27 x 9.49 x 0.83"
• Weight: 3lbs 14.3oz
• Starting Price: $1,599
The new ThinkPad T400s looks completely revamped and polished compared to the regular T400. The chassis has slimmed down significantly, and the weight of the notebook has also dropped by almost a pound. Looking inside, the main changes start to become obvious. Besides the new keyboard and touchpad that we will go over shortly, Lenovo changed the shape of the palmrest around the touchpad, with the touchpad resting flush with the palmrest instead of being slightly recessed.

The screen bezel is smooth all around the perimeter of the display, unlike the T400 which shows rough plastic grids near the built-in antennas and cutouts near the light and webcam With the thinner design Lenovo completely reworked the chassis for the T400s, and it looks completely different than the T400 once you start opening it up. The hard drive is now accessed through a panel under the left side of the palmrest, which is now 1.8" instead of the 2.5" found in the T400. System memory and wireless cards are found under a single access panel on the bottom of the notebook. Compared to removing the palmrest on previous models, you now just loosen one screw and pop off a single panel to upgrade memory

The LED-backlit WXGA+ (1440 x 900) display on the T400s rates above average, with good color reproduction and very good peak backlight brightness levels. The display part number is LTN141BT08001, which may indicate that it has a Samsung panel. Colors appear bright and vibrant for a matte-finish display, and it has very nice contrast when the backlight isn't at the brightest setting. At 95-100% brightness the screen starts to look slightly washed out, which is pretty normal for higher brightness displays.

Performance
With an Intel Core 2 Duo SP9600 and 128GB Samsung SSD the T400s was no slouch ... despite the Intel X4500 integrated graphics. The T400s was extremely fast to boot, and was quietly waiting at the desktop idle much sooner than other notebooks we have reviewed. The T400s handles day-to-day uses, such as typing a paper, watching Hulu while the boss isn't watching, or enjoying an HD movie all with ease. Gaming presented a problem with the X4500 integrated graphics, so instead of playing Left 4 Dead you might have to compromise with Peggle. 720p and 1080p HD video decoded with no problems at all thanks to the fast processor, although outputting it to a home stereo might be tough without digital audio out through the DisplayPort. One original concern we had with system performance was the speed of the 1.8" drive, but as we found out the 128GB Samsung SSD included with our T400s blew the socks off most 2.5" drives. The only downside to this is the SSD is fairly expensive and the small size has few aftermarket options, whereas the 2.5" market is loaded with affordable alternatives.

::ABSTRACT ::
In many applications of graph algorithms, including communication networks, VLSI design, graphics, and assembly planning, graphs are subject to discrete changes, such as additions or deletions of edges or vertices. In the last two decades there has been a growing interest in such dynamically changing graphs, and a whole body of algorithms and data structures for dynamic graphs has been discovered. A dynamic graph is a graph that is undergoing a sequence of updates. The goal of a dynamic graph algorithm is to update efficiently the solution of a problem after dynamic changes, rather than having to recompute it from scratch each time.
All the dynamic algorithms are able to maintain dynamically the graph property at a cost (per update operation) which is significantly smaller than the cost of recomputing the graph property from scratch. The three different data structures that maintain properties of dynamically changing trees: topology trees, ET trees, and top trees. The update of these trees
because of an edge insertion or deletion can be supported in O(logn) times.
The fully dynamic minimum spanning tree problem consists of maintaining a minimum spanning forest of a graph during insertions of edges, deletions of edges, and edge cost changes. A fully dynamic connectivity algorithm must be able to insert edges, delete edges, and answer a query on whether the graph is connected, or whether two vertices are in the same connected component. The algorithm answers connectivity queries in O(logn/ log log n) worst-case running time while supporting edge insertions and deletions in O(log n) amortized time.

T-Mobile announced their new smartphone. This new Google android phone is called myTouch. This is the second smartphone that uses Google's open-source mobile operating system Android. T-Mobile introduced the world's first Google Android phones, called the G1, last fall. The company claims that they sold more than 1 million phones.

myTouch is manufactured by HTC and is essentially the same hardwared design as the Google Icon, which is also known as the HTC magic. The device is being sold by Vodafone in varios markkets around the world. The Google Icon/HTC Magic has been described as thinner than the G1 and slightly smaller than Appple's iPhone. But it features a large 3.2 inch touch screen with a resolution of 320x480 pixels and no physical keyboard. The phone offers network support for 3G and Wi-Fi.

The myTouch comes with 512 Megabytes of internal memory and supports microSD for external storage. The device will ship with a 4GB microSD card, but customers can add more storage if they'd like.

T-Mobile plans to sell the myTouch for $199 with a two-year service contract, and it will be available to current T-Mobile customers starting July 8. Non-T-Mobile customers will be able to get the new phone in early August.

::ABSTRACT::
Quantum cryptography uses quantum mechanics to guarantee secure communication. It enables two parties to produce a shared random bit string known only to them, which can be used as a key to encrypt and decrypt messages. An important and unique property of quantum cryptography is the ability of the two communicating users to detect the presence of any third party trying to gain knowledge of the key. This results from a fundamental part of quantum mechanics: the process of measuring a quantum system in general disturbs the system. A third party trying to eavesdrop on the key must in some way measure it, thus introducing detectable anomalies. By using quantum superpositions or quantum entanglement and transmitting information in quantum states, a communication system can be implemented which detects eavesdropping. If the level of eavesdropping is below a certain threshold a key can be produced which is guaranteed as secure, otherwise no secure key is possible and communication is aborted. The security of quantum cryptography relies on the foundations of quantum mechanics, in contrast to traditional public key cryptography which relies on the computational difficulty of certain mathematical functions, and cannot provide any indication of eavesdropping or guarantee of key security.
Quantum cryptography is only used to produce and distribute a key, not to transmit any message data. This key can then be used with any chosen encryption algorithm to encrypt and decrypt a message, which can then be transmitted over a standard communication channel. The algorithm most commonly associated with QKD is the one-time pad, as it is provably secure when used with a secret, random key.
