Techfind proudly presents seminar report on Voice User Interface

::ABSTRACT::

For a voice portal to function, one of the most important technology we have to include is a good VUI (Voice User Interface).There has been a great deal of development in the field of interaction between human voice and the system. And there are many other fields they have started to get implemented. Like insurance has turned to interactive voice response (IVR) systems to provide telephonic customer self-service, reduce the load on call-center staff, and cut overall service costs. The promise is certainly there, but how well these systems perform-and, ultimately, whether customers leave the system satisfied or frustrated-depends in large part on the user interface.

Many IVR applications use Touch-Tone interfaces-known as DTMF (dual-tone multifrequency)- in which customers are limited to making selections from a menu. As transactions become more complex, the effectiveness of DTMF systems decreases.

In fact, IVR and speech recognition consultancy Enterprise Integration Group (EIG) reports that customer utilization rates of available DTMF systems in financial services, where transactions are primarily numeric, are as high as 90 percent; in contrast, customers' use of insurers' DTMF systems is less than 40 percent. Enter some more acronyms. Automated speech recognition (ASR) is the engine that drives today's voice user interface (VUI) systems. These let customers break the 'menu barrier' and perform more complex transactions over the phone. "In many cases the increase in self-service when moving from DTMF to speech can be dramatic," said EIG
president Rex Stringham. The best VUI systems are "speaker

Techfind proudly presents seminar report on Facial Recognition System

::ABSTRACT::

Facial recognition software can be used to find criminals in a crowd, turning a mass of people into a big lineup. The Tampa Police Department was testing out a new technology, called FaceIt, that allows snapshots of faces from the crowd to be compared to a database of criminal mugshots.

The $30,000 system was loaned to the Tampa Police Department for one year. So far, no arrests have been made using the technology. However, the 36 cameras positioned in different areas of downtown Tampa have allowed police to keep a more watchful eye on general activities. This increased surveillance of city residents and tourists has riled privacy rights groups.

People have an amazing ability to recognize and remember thousands of faces. In this edition of HowStuffWorks, you'll learn how computers are turning your face into computer code so it can be compared to thousands, if not millions, of other faces. We'll also look at how facial recognition software is being used in elections, criminal investigations and to secure your personal computer.

Techfind proudly presents seminar report on SQL INJECTION

:: ABSTRACT ::

Imagine a single wireless technology that can:

  • make portable Internet a reality by extending public WLAN hotspots to metropolitan area coverage for mobile data-centric service delivery,
  • connect enterprises and residential users in urban and suburban environments where access to copper plant is difficult,
  • bridge the digital divide by delivering broadband in low-density areas.
Thanks to its innovative technology, WiMAX will offer broadband wireless access at data rates of multiple Mbit/s to the end-user and within a range of several kilometers. The same radio technology will also offer high-speed data services to all nomadic terminals (laptops, PDAs, etc.) with an optimized trade off between throughput and coverage. Ultimately it will enable the "Portable Internet" usage replicating on the move the same user experience as at home or at the office.

Given its huge benefits, WiMAX will develop as a powerful radio access solution with many integration synergies in mobile or fixed network architecture. WiMAX will also enable end-users to benefit from an "Always Best Connected" experience when accessing their applications via the best available network, at home, on the pause, or on the move. WiMAX particularly fits in Alcatel's vision for a User-Centric Broadband World in full complementarity with the other broadband access technologies: from ADSL to UMTS and their evolutions towards higher speed and data efficiency

Techfind proudly presents seminar report on SQL INJECTION

:: ABSTRACT ::

This paper contains information about this extremely popular database attack.
Most of today's web applications require dynamic content and input from users to achieve the same appeal as traditional applications within the desktop operating systems. This is achieved by using languages such as SQL the most common being mySQL. The attacker can gain unauthorized access to restricted data suck as usernames /passwords/email addresses etc.

Using SQL injections, attackers can:– Add new data to the database.
With some more advanced queries and tricky techniques the attacker can potentially bypass the authentication and gain complete control over the web application and potentially the web server..
Perform an INSERT in the injected SQL– Modify data currently in the database.
Perform an UPDATE in the injected SQL– Often can gain access to other user’s system capabilities by obtaining their password.
Could be embarrassing to find yourself selling politically incorrect items on an e-Commerce site.

Techfind proudly presents seminar report on Semantic Web

:: ABSTRACT ::

The word semantic stands for the meaning of. The semantic of something is the meaning of something. The Semantic Web is a web that is able to describe things in a way that computers can understand.

  • The Beatles was a popular band from Liverpool.
  • John Lennon was a member of the Beatles.
  • The record "Hey Jude" was recorded by the Beatles.
Sentences like these can be understood by people. But how can they be understood by computers?Statements are built with syntax rules. The syntax of a language defines the rules for building the language statements. But how can syntax become semantic?This is what the Semantic Web is all about. Describing things in a way that computers applications can understand. The Semantic Web is not about links between web pages. The Semantic Web describes the relationships between things (like A is a part of B and Y is a member of Z) and the properties of things (like size, weight, age, and price)

Techfind presents seminar report on Java Ring

:: ABSTRACT ::

A Java Ring is a finger ring that contains a small microprocessor with built-in
capabilities for the user, a sort of smart card that is wearable on a finger. Sun
Microsystems’s Java Ring was introduced at their Java One Conference in 1998
and, instead of a gemstone, contained an inexpensive microprocessor in a stainlesssteel
iButton running a Java virtual machine and preloaded with applets (little
application programs). The rings were built by Dallas Semiconductor.
Workstations at the conference had "ring readers" installed on them that
downloaded information about the user from the conference registration system.
This information was then used to enable a number of personalized services. For
example, a robotic machine made coffee according to user preferences, which it
downloaded when they snapped the ring into another "ring reader."
The Java Ring is an extremely secure Java-powered electronic token with a
continuously running, unalterable real-time clock and rugged packaging, suitable
for many applications. The jewel of the Java Ring is the Java iButton -- a onemillion
transistor, single chip trusted microcomputer with a powerful Java Virtual
Machine (JVM) housed in a rugged and secure stainless-steel case.

Techfind presents seminar report on Cross-Lingual Meaning Based Search

:: ABSTRACT ::

This report discusses the need, approaches and techniques of performing cross-lingual meaning based search on web documents written in different natural languages. The ever-increasing reach of the World Wide Web deep into different countries and cultures of the world has resulted in a vast volume of information in electronic form represented in languages other than English. This has magnified the need of cross-lingual and meaning-based search. Cross-lingual Information Access involves use of Machine Translation systems. In scenarios where a number of different languages are involved, Interlingua-based Machine Translation approach proves beneficial. Universal Networking Language is a widely used and exhaustive interlingua available today. In domain-specific search, restricted interlingua such as Subword Clusters prove to be effective. Different approaches to match the search query with related documents exist having varying degrees of precision and recall. AgroExplorer is an indigenous cross-lingual meaningbased search engine for agricultural domain, which can also be effectively integrated with multilingual question-answer forums like aAqua.

Techfind proudly presents seminar report on Pipelined Heap Management

:: ABSTRACT ::

QualityofService(QoS) guarantees in networks are increasingly based on perflow queueing and sophisticated scheduling. Most advanced scheduling algorithms rely on a common computational primitive: priority queues. Large priority queues are built using calendar queue or heap data structures. To support advanced scheduling at OC192 (10 Gbps) rates and above, pipelined management of the priority queue is needed. We present a pipelined heap manager that we have designed as a core integratable into ASIC’s, in synthesizable Verilog form. We discuss how to use it in switches and routers, its advantages over calendar queues, and we present costperformance tradeoffs. Our design can be configured to any heap size. We have verified and synthesized our design and present cost and performance analysis

The speed of networks is increasing at a dramatic pace. Significant advances also occur in network architecture, and in particular in the provision of quality of service (QoS) guarantees. Switches and routers increasingly rely on specialized hardware to provide the desired high throughput and advanced QoS. Such supporting hardware becomes feasible
and economical owing to the advances in semiconductor technology. To be able to provide toplevel QoS guarantees, network switches and routers increasingly rely on perflow queueing and advanced scheduling [14]. The topic of this paper is hardware support for advanced scheduling.

Techfind presents seminar report on DNA Computing

:: ABSTRACT ::

DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) molecules, the material our genes are made of, have the potential to perform calculations many times faster than the world's most powerful human-built computers. DNA might one day be integrated into a computer chip to create a so-called biochip that will push computers even faster. DNA molecules have already been
harnessed to perform complex mathematical problems. While still in their infancy, DNA computers will be capable of storing billions of times more data than your personal computer. The technology is still in development, and didn't even exist as a concept a few years ago. DNA computers have the potential to take computing to new levels, picking up where Moore's Law leaves off. The DNA computers are unlikely to feature word processing, e-mailing and solitaire programs. Instead, their powerful computing power will be used by national governments for cracking secret codes, or by airlines wanting to map more efficient routes. Studying DNA computers may also lead us to a better understanding of a more complex computer -- the human brain.

Techfind presents seminar report on Ethical Hacking

:: ABSTRACT ::

Today more and more softwares are developing and people are getting more and more options in their present softwares. But many are not aware that they are being hacked without their knowledge. One reaction to this state of affairs is a behavior termed “Ethical Hacking" which attempts to proactively increase security protection by identifying and patching known security vulnerabilities on systems owned by other parties.

A good ethical hacker should know the methodology chosen by the hacker like reconnaissance, host or target scanning, gaining access, maintaining access and clearing tracks. For ethical hacking we should know about the various tools and methods that can be used by a black hat hacker apart from the methodology used by him.

From the point of view of the user one should know atleast some of these because some hackers make use of those who are not aware of the various hacking methods to hack into a system. Also when thinking from the point of view of the developer, he also should be aware of these since he should be able to close holes in his software even with the usage of the various tools. With the advent of new tools the hackers may make new tactics. But atleast the software will be resistant to some of the tools.

Techfind presents seminar report on Image Denoising Via Learned Dictionaries and Sparse representation

:: ABSTRACT ::

We address the image denoising problem, where zeromean white and homogeneous Gaussian additive noise should be removed from a given image. The approach taken is based on sparse and redundant representations over a trained dictionary. The proposed algorithm denoises the image, while simultaneously trainining a dictionary on its (corrupted) content using the K-SVD algorithm. As the dictionary training algorithm is limited in handling small
image patches, we extend its deployment to arbitrary image sizes by defining a global image prior that forces sparsity over patches in every location in the image. We show how such Bayesian treatment leads to a simple and effective denoising algorithm, with state-of-the-art performance, equivalent and sometimes surpassing recently publishedleading alternative denoising methods.

Techfind proudly presents seminar report on Blue Eyes Technology

:: ABSTRACT ::

BlueEyes system provides technical means for monitoring and recording the operator’s basic physiological parameters. The most important parameter is saccadic activity1, which enables the system to monitor the status of the operator’s visual attention along with head acceleration, which accompanies large displacement of the visual axis (saccades larger than 15 degrees). Complex industrial environment can create a danger of exposing the operator to toxic substances, which can affect his cardiac, circulatory and pulmonary systems. Thus, on the grounds of plethysmographic signal taken from the forehead skin surface, the system computes heart beat rate and blood oxygenation.

The BlueEyes system checks above parameters against abnormal (e.g. a low level of blood oxygenation or a high pulse rate) or undesirable (e.g. a longer period of lowered visual attention) values and triggers user-defined alarms when necessary. Quite often in an emergency situation operator speak to themselves expressing their surprise or stating verbally the problem. Therefore, the operator’s voice, physiological parameters and an overall view of the operating room are recorded. This helps to reconstruct the course of operators’ work and provides data for long-term analysis.

BlueEyes consists of a mobile measuring device and a central analytical system. The mobile device is integrated with Bluetooth module providing wireless interface between sensors worn by the operator and the central unit. ID cards assigned to each of the operators and adequate user profiles on the central unit side provide necessary data personalization so different people can use a single mobile device (called hereafter DAU – Data Acquisition Unit). The overall system diagram is shown in Figure 1. The tasks of the mobile Data Acquisition Unit are to maintain Bluetooth connections, to get information from the sensor and sending it over the wireless connection

Techfind proudly presents seminar report on Resilient Packet Ring Technology

:: ABSTRACT ::

Until now enterprises that needed the high speed restoration and high availability of telecommunications service obtainable by ring architectures for distributed networking or Metropolitan Area Networks (MAN) have been faced with a dilemma. Synchronous Digital Hierarchy and Synchronous Optical Network (SDH/SONET) rings undeniably provide a very high level of protection, but synchronous equipment is significantly more expensive than Ethernet-based networking and incurs a heavy bandwidth penalty to achieve its levels of Protection. For its part, although it functions well in point-to-point and meshed network topologies, non-trivial obstacles have to be surmounted before Ethernet may be deployed in a ring topology. In particular ,SDH/SONET-like fast protection mechanisms are not integral to Ethernet. An alternative known as Resilient Packet Ring (RPR) combines the resilience of SDH/SONET with the lower cost of IP/Ethernet, but it is not yet widely deployed. Scaled for larger deployments, the industry expectation is that while RPR will become one of the most widely used IP networking tools, it is unlikely to be economically viable for all network sizes and application types. Now, there is a third approach to low cost, fast restoration networking –Resilient Fast Ethernet Ring (RFER), a new technology that delivers SDH/SONET-type resilience at Ethernet cost for small-to-medium applications. An important trend in networking is the migration of packet-based technologies from local Area Networks to Metropolitan Area Networks. The rapidly increasing volume of data traffic in metro networks is challenging the capacity limits of existing transport infrastructures based on circuit-oriented technologies like SONET and ATM. In efficiencies associated with carrying increasing quantities of data traffic over voice-optimized circuit-switched networks makes it difficult to provision new services, and increases the cost of building additional capacity beyond the limits of most carriers capital expense budgets. Packet-based transport technology, a natural fit with the now ubiquitous IP protocol, is considered by many to be the only alternative for scaling metro networks to meet the demand.

Tecfind proudly presents seminar report on High Altitude Aeronautical Platform

:: ABSTRACT ::

Affordable bandwidth will be as essential to the Information Revolution in the21 st century as inexpensive power was to the Industrial Revolution in the 18 th and 19 th centuries. Today’s global communications infrastructures of landlines, cellular towers, and satellites are inadequately equipped to support the increasing worldwide demand for faster, better, and less expensive service. At a time when conventional ground and satellite systems are facing increasing obstacles and spiraling costs, a low cost solution is being advocated. High altitude platform are stratospheric platforms for broadband wireless telecommunications. The platforms are hoisted at altitudes of about 17-22 kms to set communication links similar to satellites. Within this height range, wind currents are low and commercial aviation is unaffected.

High altitude platforms have the potential capability to serve a large number of users, either in dense urban areas or over a wide geographical area. They have the advantage of the wide look angles associated with terrestrial deployments. Thus line of sight path can be readily obtained from HAPs, and considerably less infrastructure may be required to serve the same coverage area when compared with terrestrial services. Additionally HAPs have the advantage of rapid deployment and the ability to be reconfigurable to cover short term fluctuations in usage.

This paper focuses on airborne platforms- airships, planes, helicopters or some hybrid solutions which could operate at stratospheric altitudes for significant periods of time, be low cost and be capable of carrying sizable multipurpose communications payloads. This report briefly presents an overview about the internal architecture of a High Altitude Aeronautical Platform and the various HAAPS projects. While the term HAAPS may not have a rigid definition, we take it to mean a solar-powered and unmanned airplane or airship, capable of long endurance on-station –possibly several years.

Tecfind proudly presents seminar report on MBMS (Multimedia Broadcast/Multicast Service)

:: ABSTRACT ::

============

MBMS (Multimedia Broadcast/Multicast Service) is an IP datacast (IPDC) type of service that can be offered via existing GSM and UMTS cellular networks. The infrastructure gives the possibility to use an up- link channel for the interactions between the service and the user. This is not a straightforward issue in usual broadcast networks, as for example conventional digital television is only a one-way (unicast) system.

MBMS has been standardized in various groups of 3GPP (Third Generation Partnership Project), and the first phase standards are to be finalized for UMTS release 6.

The service seems to be rather attractive, as quite a lot of operators, equipment manufacturers and other representatives have participated in the standardization work. It can consequently be assumed that there will be several services offered via MBMS in the near future.

MBMS is a solution for transferring light video and audio clips, although real streaming is also possible via the system. For heavy duty streaming in a wide area for a large, concentrated audience there are more suitable solutions such as DVB-H (Digital Video Broadcast, Handheld) which is an extension to terrestrial digital television. Nevertheless, MBMS is a suitable method also for mass communications.

Tecfind proudly presents seminar report on Graph Mining

:: ABSTRACT ::

How does the Web look? How could we tell an abnormal social network from a normal one? These and similar questions are important in many fields where the data can intuitively be cast as a graph; examples range from computer networks to sociology to biology and many more. Indeed, any M: N relation in database terminology can be represented as a graph. A lot of these questions boil down to the following: “How can we generate synthetic but realistic graphs?” To answer this, we must first understand what patterns are common in real-world graphs and can thus be considered a mark of normality/realism. This seminar give an overview of the incredible variety of work that has been done on these problems. One of our main contributions is the integration of points of view from physics, mathematics, sociology, and computer science. Further, we briefly describe recent advances on some related and interesting graph problems.

Informally, a graph is set of nodes, pairs of which might be connected by edges. In a wide array of disciplines, data can be intuitively cast into this format. For example, computer networks consist of routers/computers (nodes) and the links (edges) between them. Social networks consist of individuals and their interconnections (which could be business relationships or kinship or trust, etc.) Protein interaction networks link proteins which must work together to perform some particular biological function. Ecological food webs link species with predator-prey relationships. In these and many other fields, graphs are seemingly ubiquitous.
